The Studio

Downtown Dance Studio was established in June of 1990 by Jim Lowell. The studio's original ballroom was only 900 square foot and consisted of a dozen students. Since then, the studio has grown to include two large ballrooms and a large family of students and teachers. Downtown Dance Studio is well known and respected in the dance community and students come from all over Central Florida to take dance lessons and come to our dance parties. All of our teachers are certified or trained in the ISTD and/or DVIDA programs of dancing.

We teach all levels of dancing from general social dancing to performance and competitive levels.

DANCES:

We teach all forms of partner dancing including:

•BALLROOM: Fox Trot, Waltz, Tango Quickstep, V. Waltz and Foxxy
•LATIN: Rumba, ChaCha, Bolero, Mambo, Samba
•SWING: East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jive
•SALSA: Merengue, Bachata
•COUNTRY WESTERN: Two Step, Night Club Two Step
•ARGENTINE TANGO
•WEST COAST SWING
•HUSTLE

DANCE CLASSES:

We use a three-way system of teaching; including private dance lessons, group classes and social dance parties that have proven to give our students the best results in the fastest time to become the dancers they had always desired to be.

PRIVATE DANCE LESSONS:

A private dance lesson is between a single student or a couple and a teacher. Your teacher will give you personalized attention to meet your goals in dancing. Everyone learns at different speeds and in different manners. Your teacher will teach you the dances you want to learn at the pace that fits you best. Your private dance lesson will be your most important and most productive way to learn.

GROUP DANCE CLASSES:

Group Classes are a great way to compliment your private dance leessons by giving you the opportunity to dance with a variety of partners with different teachers and meet new students. Group classes are a good way to learn new dance steps that your teacher can help you with on your private lessons. Group classes are fun and give you a chance to dance with more people on the floor. Most group classes run from four to eight weeks, then we change to different dances.

SOCIAL DANCE PARTIES:

Social Dance Parties are just as important as your private and group lessons in the exciting journey of learning to dance. The dance party gives you an enjoyable opportunity to put into practice what you have learned in your lessons by dancing with the professional teachers, other students and guests. Dancing in this relaxed atmosphere eases any stress of dancing in front of other people and builds your confidence as a leader or follower. Dance parties are also a great way to socialize with old friends and meet new ones.
